Marie Durham is a Detroit-based illustrator, designer, and storyteller with a passion for bold, vibrant artistry. With a background in fashion design and fine art from Wayne State University, she seamlessly blends illustration with fashion, culture, and self-expression. Though she spent time in the corporate world, her love for creativity led her back to art, where she found her true calling.As the founder of Marie 313 / Fly Like Me LLC, Marie creates culture-driven illustrations that celebrate confidence, self-love, and diverse beauty. Her work is inspired by fashion, music, and her community, bringing a unique energy to everything she creates. While she primarily works digitally on her iPad, she also enjoys painting and hands-on design. With a background as a trained seamstress, she has a deep appreciation for fabric, texture, and wearable art.With over 20 years of experience in fashion illustration, Marie continues to push creative boundaries. She is currently working on her debut YA graphic novel, represented by Adria Goetz at KT Literary, where she fuses storytelling, fashion, and bold visuals to bring her characters to life.Whether she’s live sketching at events, designing apparel, or illustrating dynamic stories, Marie’s mission remains the same—to inspire and empower through art.
